On 8 July, the Clean Air (Human Rights) Bill – Ella’s Law – will receive its second reading in the House of Lords. This is the first opportunity for members of the Lords to debate the key principles and main purpose of a bill and to flag up any concerns or specific areas where they think amendments (changes) are needed.
All the indications are that the Bill is gathering substantial cross-party support. But if you are in touch with a member of the House of Lords, do let them know why this Bill is so well worth their backing. And do please help to highlight Ella’s Law on your social media!
Baroness Jenny Jones has published a full set of explanatory notes that set out exactly how the Bill works and what the right to breathe clean air will mean in practice, here.
